Selling video streaming
Date: Jan-24-2008
How to sell video streaming with Comersus Cart
The streaming video selling function allows selling direct
access to AVI or WMV videos. Once the payment has been approved
(whether by means of an online gateway, payment through bonus
points or once the admin marks the order as paid), the customer
will be able to access the list of orders contained in Your
Account. Once there, he should select the order and if the same
contains a video the customer will be able to see an icon to
get access to it.
To configure the sale of streaming videos:
1. Place your videos in the digital goods folder.
2. Create a product for each video you wish to sell and load
the name of the AVI or WMV video file within the Digital Goods
field.
3. Set pDigitalGoodsWatchVideo as true in BackOffice/Configuration
Requirements:
1. File System Object with full permissions on the digitalGoods
folder.
2. Comersus v7.097 or superior
3. Power Pack 7.097 or superior
4. The customer should have an IE 6.0 or superior browser or
any other compatible web browser
supporting EMBEDDED videos using Media Player.
About video safety:
The streaming video sales scheme does not require a subscription
to expensive streaming servers. Instead, it uses a simple file
renaming scheme according to the customer's session. This means
that the original video is kept hidden and a copy is created
for the logged-in customer. This copy will self-destruct once
the customer closes the video window.
In case a customer does not close said window or if he does
not have the JavaScript function which executes the deleting
code activated, the admin will have to carry out a daily deleting
process of the video copies destined for streaming.
This can be done by means of a simple automatic procedure that
could eliminate files having a an avi or wmv extension, the
names of which start with a specified customer prefix in your
store.
